Individual Task- Evaluation 3

SPOKEN QUESTIONNIARE

Survey results analysis from doaa elmnayneh

When I was planning the creation of this questionnaire as a group we decided to use questions that will enable us to gain honest feedback from the audience and gain as much information as possible in order to find out what type of features and content our target audience would like us to include in order to make it engaging and appealing to them. I decided to use SurveyMonkey in order to produce this questionnaire because it will enable me to create a quick and professional design with various techniques to use. In addition, it will allow me to send it via email and print it. Not only that, but it collects my results and produces a ready made bar graph. Due to the results of this survey I was able to produce a much better and more successful music video outcome. This is because I was able to identify the important aspects and preferences for our target audience. The main purpose of creating the questionnaire is to gain as much information that would help me and my group later on when I will need to make decisions and choices for the music video. In order to gain as much information as possible we decided to keep the survey open for the public to answer, as this way we gain more results leading us to gain a more accurate and successful feedback. The feedback which we got we very important and helped us a lot in making the music video. For instance, we have emphasised the used of  narrative concept during the entire music video, this is because of the results we gained  and in order to satisfy the audience of having a narrative concept. Overall, this we challenging and interesting, as what we have learnt from our audiences feedback was important in terms of the production for our music video.

During the post production questionnaire, it has helped me a lot in order to learn about what my consumer likes and dislike. This survey was created using SurveyMonkey in order to be able to send it online easily as well as print it and it creates my graph results easily which saves me time. This also allowed me to gain a lot of responses. The results which I gained enabled me to have an honest opinion about the final outcome of my music video. The audience's feedback showed me that the overall music video was very successful and produced to a high standard. It was also a success in terms of aiming the correct audience and producing a media product which they enjoyed. The consumer feedback also presented to me the how crucial it is to share the products as this will enable them too give constructive criticism to me and my group in order to further help em identity specific solutions for my final music video. The post production survey asked questions such as if the narrative was clear. Asking this type of question shows that the audience can acknowledge the narrative of the music video.

In addition, this post production questionnaire has enabled me to ask more questions, for example, the user enjoyed the colour scheme or the surrealism concept within the music video. This information enabled me to asses my own music video and ancillary task. From the audiences feedback and post production analysis I have learnt most of the viewers enjoyed the music video. Also, some of the viewer's were able to identify the correct codes and conventions within the video such as the colour scheme and use of surrealism.

A primary research which we conducted is Vox Pox, this is were we have a number of individuals and we asked them the same question in order to gain feedback and be able to compare the various perspectives on one question. The question which we asked the participants is "What Dance Sub-Genres Would You like To See In A Music Video Based Upon". From this question that results which we gained different as everyone had their own opinion. However, the majority said they would like to see a video creation on an EDM song. Due to this result I was able to conduct the music video around this specific genre and ensure that I follow the codes and conventions. Without this information the genre of the music video me and my group would had to do would of been very unclear and indecisive. So for that reason, the research and planning would not have been related to the genre, meaning I would have conducted in appropriate research and produced an unsuccessful product.

Individual Task- Final Construction Digipak

In this task I have finished off constructing my digipak.
The first thing I have done is that I have added is that when I have opened the background photo into Photoshop I went to effects and then went to apply a gradient overlay. This tool allowed me to blend two colours together to make the background darker. The first colour I chose was light blue and fades into dark blue or navy. As you can see it allowed me to make the image to be bright from the bottom and gets darker towards the top. However, this was not enough I wanted to make it even darker. Therefore, I have created a layer from the side and went on to select the brush tool from the left side panel and set the colour of it to be black to allowed me darken the image. This will be explained in more details in the screenshots bellow.

I then have went on settings the brush size and the hardness as you can see in the first screenshot. I then have brushed the layer and lowered down the opacity to be 28 as this will make the visibility less of the black paint and enable the background to show. But this was not enough I have created another layer and have only brushed the middle and have set the opacity on 14 as you can see in the second screenshot. This made it look dull so when I will place the writing it will make it stand out and be easy to read.

When I have added the black paint it made the colours to be dark and boring. As a result, I wanted to add a colour that will be overlaid with the black paint to make it more professional. I then repeated the same steps as when I wanted to apply the black paint but this time have set the opacity on 15 to make the red not to be too bright.

In here I am showing how I will be adding the name of the songs that will be included in the album. Firstly I went on the ‘T’ sign that is located on the left side panel of Photoshop. Then I have chosen where I want to it to be placed. I then have wrote the first name of the song that is going to be added and then went on choosing the font. I have decided to keep the same font that I have used when I created my advert. This is because I wanted it to be consistent and links to the codes and conventions. This will make it recognisable and professional. I then have completed writing all the names of the songs. Then went on adding an effect to the text. The only thing I have added is a Bevel effect where it made the text bolder and to stand out. In the third screenshot I have added the copyright statement at the bottom which shows that I am following the conventions. I done this by repeating the same step where I have added the names of the songs. Then in the last screenshot I have added the label records and a barcode next to the copy right statement surrounded by two lines. I have copied these two lines from InDesign when I created my advert. This saved me time and also kept it consistent and professional. Now this will really appeal to the audience and looks successful.

In order for me to make the CD the first thing I have done is that I copied the background into Photoshop. I then have showed the guidelines to help me a perfect circle that will look like a CD disc. I then have used the Elliptical tool to allow me make a selection in a circle shape. To make this smooth and look professional I needed to refine the edges as you can see in the second screenshot. I then have to create a new layer mask which will only make the background to be a circle. In the third screenshot I am showing how it looked after I have refined the edges and cropped it out as you can see it looks professional.
I then needed to create another circle in order to create an outline for the CD disc. I done this by going to shapes and choosing an ellipse shape which is a circle and have used the guide lines to help me make a professional circle. I chose the colour to be black so it makes the CD disc cover to stand out more. The second step I did is that I needed to make the middle of the circle see through so it looks more like a CD disc where the plastic case goes through it. I have used an ellipse selection tool again in order to make a good sized circle that makes the CD will look professional and realistic then I pressed on delete using the keyboard to delete the selected area. However, the black circle at the back showed. To get rid of it, I needed to use the eraser to tool to make the middle transparent as you can see the eraser size in the third screenshot.

Group Work- Construction process 4

During this video you will be shown the last two scenes being edited by Zacaria. The editor firstly uses the fade feature to good effect as he uses it in time with the narrative, By this I mean that Zacaria has used the use of a fade to represent the actor sleeping, this is an effective transition as the fade clearly shows the partition between the two scenes, The fade turns into black by separating the clips. The next scene initiates with a fade in, this is a new edit similar to the fade out tool however placed at the start of the clip on the timeline and the user chooses the duration.

The editor then chooses to preform the cutting to the beat task again, Zacaraia has achieved this by taking time in listening to the audio and placing the clips where the image arts, this is shown in the videos as there are pauses before the editor is placing the clips into place, the editor has a free range of movement in where the clip goes and therefore he is able to place the clip anywhere on the timeline.

Zacaria has re used the fade tool again to great effect when showing the actor running down the hill and showing his journey. The use of the fade tool has been prevalent in our music video as it is an easy tool too replicate and reuse in different scenarios. This is a great transition period as the video shows Zacaria has cut numerous images while still referencing towards the storyboard to rehearse the chronological order.

Zacaria has used a zoom in effect with the camera leading straight towards the actors face, this is effective as it shows the characters emotions and shows the mis en scene to the audience.  The zoom in effect has now be duplicated from a following scene and used on this clip. The zoom tool is used on the clip however this time in the opposite fashion moving the camera forwards. The clip then follows the actor transitioning into another zoom in effect; this is apparent and is striking foe the audience who now are intrigued as the climax of this journey will ensue. Zacaria has moved the two clips on the timeline and has placed a fade out effect on the first clip, this shows the clip is going transparent and then proceeds into the next clip. This then follows with the use of another fade leading into a wide shot of the London skyline. This shot is very striking and shows the audience that the actor has achieved a test of climbing the mountain. The shot also shows a different perspective of the view in which the audience normally see which is on the floor.

Zacarai had a dilemma as to what shots will fit in the last scene and therefore tried and tested some of the shots in different positions along the timeline, this allowed him t o get a better feel for the end of the video and shows that his patience with the work was well rewarded.

When reaching the climax of the music video Zacaria used a few more editing procedures in the final scene, there is a distinctive fade apparent when the actress is looking at the actor for the first time, however there is a new editing technique which zacaria used and is achieved by using two different clips together with one clip having a lower opacity achieved by editing the clips settings. Zacaria has then used a cut tool on one of the clips in order too make it seem that one of the clips is flashing, the final use of a fade is at the end and is of the two actor’s and actress walking away. Although not stated the colour correction applied is used by inserting a gradient overlay on all of the clips and adjusting the hue and saturation of said overlay.

Individual Task- Construction of Digipak

Step 1: The first thing I have done is that I have added the photograph of the character and then the background as I have done the same process when I was creating the advert. After making sure the character and the background look professional I then have moved to the second step which is going to be explained in details in the second step below.
Step 2: The next thing I have done is that I have added a text. I done this by going the ‘T’ icon that is located on the left side panel of Photoshop. I then have changed the font to make it the same as the advert one in order to keep it consistent. I also knew what I needed to add to the title of the CD cover this is because it is the same as the advert. I then have went on the effects to add a stroke to the text to make it stand out more. The colour of the stroke is red to make it link to the lines of the background. I then have went to add a drop shadow which also is going to be dark read to make it consistent and be the same as the advert. Furthermore, I added a red outer-glow and satin. This will allow the title to be appealing and eye-catching. This is also the effects I have added to the title when I created the advert. This shows that I am following the codes and conventions.
Step 3: In this step I have moved on to editing the title such as the spacing between the characters and have played around with the ‘Vertical scale’ and ‘Horizontal scale’ to make the text taller and be easy to read and recognised. Then I have moved on to decreasing the size of the title and putting it into the right place.
Step 4: In this step I am trying to add two lines that will be placed around the title. I have created them by using the selection tool to make a thin rectangle and chose the colour to be white so it links to the title. I then have moved on to adding effects to the line. The effects I have added are Bevel & Emboss, red Drop shadow, red Outer glow. When I have added these effects it made it look consistent with the title and also stand out well. I then have coped the same layer in order to save me time and not having to create it again as I wanted to place one at the top and another one at the bottom. Then I made sure the line-up to make it look professional and organised. This will make the CD cover to be attractive and eye-catching.
